I decided to copy the idea I have seen some friends do for their trips round the world and do a running blog to chronicle my travels galavanting through Europe. I hope it is somewhat entertaining and will keep you updated as to what countries I am being a drunk, ignorant American tourist in. I leave for New York City on August 26th, will be spending a few days there before we fly to Roma, Italia. While in New York, Bernie Sr., Jack and myself will be witnessing the last series of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees in what will be the "Old Yankee Stadium." I feel very lucky to attend this clash of American League titans, and will be sure to wear my Red Sox gear and be as obnoxious as possible. If I am able to make it out of there alive, Bernie Sr. will drive John Cosmo and I to the airport and start our journey through Europe.
Rough Overview of Trip
As previously stated Jack and I will be flying into Roma. We stay there for several days during which time we will rent a car and head east through the mountains to Guardreggia, Italy (spelling is butchered), to where Cosmo and Carolina (my grandparents) hail from. This should be an extraordinary experience and certainly be a highlight of the trip. From Italy, we fly to Split, Croatia. We spend 7 days in Croatia and will hit up Dubrovnik and Hvar. Two cities along the Dalmation Coast of the Adriatic which is supposed to be wicked pissah. There we will sample the beaches, check out some ruins of the former Yugoslavia that were bombed severely during a some war I am not sure of, and definitely enjoy the nightlife. After kickin' it in Croatia for a week we hop on a flight from Dubrovnik to Amsterdam. We spend 2 full days in Amsterdam, which I am told is more than enough time to take in everything they have to offer. From there John Cosmo will be leaving me and heading home and I will be pressing on to London, England. There I am staying with my cousin John and his lovely family for a week, where I hope to catch a Soccer Meet and spend a ton of money because of the weak American Dollar. The trip should be an epic life experience and I anxiously await my departure. More posts with pictorials will follow when I am able to get to a computer.
